MAKING COZY VIDEOS PIZZA PARTY

Published On: September 13, 2025Categories: Community, Pizza Party

So later this month I’m doing another workshop, err… pizza party. The MAKING COZY VIDEOS PIZZA PARTY.

I’m still learning how to do workshops, and honestly, I don’t like the set of expectations that are tied to them. I believe we learn better together, so while I’m fine talking about what I think is best, I encourage everyone in the room to talk about what works for them as well.

My rectangle in a Zoom call doesn’t know all the answers, but together we get closer to what we’re looking for.

And in this time of AI, where anyone can write about anything in mere minutes, I think owning the vulnerability of live video is worth the tension it brings. As Seth Godin says, “this might not work.”

I believe that video will be crucial in the coming months and years to establish credibility, but also to signal our vibes, our tone, our spirit.

How can you build community without fully showing who we are?

Social media gave us signposts like follower counts, checkmarks, “engagement” numbers. Video, I think, builds a better foundation for the work we wanna be doing.

So in this workshop, errr… pizza party, I’m gonna show some great examples of quiet videos, like these:

Like, you can just set up a camera and walk around and do you thing.

Noah Kalina does this, too, but also does the “talking into the camera” thing, too. But he does it his way, which I love.

Then there’s Marcus, who is “probably riding his bike.” All the footage is from his adventures, and bike rides, and coffee shops, with simple, calm voice over audio. It’s a delight.

ISETTA FILM videos are cinematic gold, but I’m not saying we have to rise to that level. I think it’s worth noting how quiet and calm these videos are. No rush, no urgency. That’s what a lot of us are shooting for, so how do we get there without becoming film makers?

Now, this pizza party isn’t going to cover all the logistics and equipment needed to make shot for shot remakes of these videos. This isn’t so much about lighting and audio, but more about finding your own angle on how to make videos like this for our projects. I hope you’ll join us.
